I was interviewed by Barry Green of Western Tourist Radio in May 2018, to
promote my shop “Brain Spice” in Bunbury. I was initially a bit nervous
about it, but Barry was fantastic to chat to, and he very quickly put me
at ease. I was extremely happy with the way the interview turned out,
and it has since been mentioned several times by customers visiting the
shop. The interview is also available online, allowing me to share it
via social media and our web page. Barry is doing wonderful work to
promote the southwest WA region, and he has my highest recommendation.
I’ve been listing to Western Tourist Radio myself ever since!

I was happy to talk about my business with Barry Green from Tourist Radio,
and lend support to this very worthy venture. Although not expecting any
notable response, I was quite surprised to find a lot of visitors to our
gallery in reaction to having heard the show. This does not include
those who may not have mentioned it, and all those who may have heard it
and not dropped by, for whatever reason.
I found working with Barry quite straightforward and relaxed. The
segment was well edited and sounded very professional. Clearly Mr Green
has a wealth of experience and insight, as exemplified by the many
interviews on his show.

I have had an enormous and very positive response to my interview on
Tourist Radio. The amount of people who have listened to, and tell me
they really enjoyed, my chat with Barry is ever increasing.
I find it brings people into Barefoot Books that perhaps would never
have thought of us beforehand and because it is tourist radio and we
talk about all the local issues they enjoy being part of our community,
if only for their short stay in our beautiful area.

Just wanted to let you know that we are still getting comment from
customers coming in to tell me that they have been listening to our
interview on Western Tourist Radio.
An excellent response I feel for the catchment of the station.

At the recent Dardanup Art Trail three or four people mentioned that
they had heard the interview you conducted with me re the Art Trail.
This was very gratifying as no doubt others heard it too who did not
mention it.

Since joining a couple of years ago, your web site has provided us with a
steady stream of enquiries and many of these have turned into bookings
for our business. We constantly measure hits on our web site to
determine their origin and the Tourist Radio web site has performed
consistently…..
It exceeds the performance of far larger, so called specialist, web
sites that we are also linked to.I believe that the results we enjoy are
the result of your web site providing the right information and
environment for the people using it. This is exactly what we hope for
with our listings on external web sites.”

We have been advertising on
Western Tourist Radio in Cowaramup and Karridale for over 12 months and
have found it very cost effective in attracting visitors to our
Centre. Like any form of advertising, it is
hard to be sure exactly where visitors heard our message. The fact that I
frequently have visitors volunteer that they heard me on the Tourist Radio
confirms to me that visitors to the area are listening to the service. It
is likely that many more visit because of this advertisement but do not
necessarily comment. I am happy to recommend
this service to other tourist attractions and would encourage
accommodation providers to promote the service to their guests as a way of
informing them of the attractions of the area. Thanking you for your
service.

This letter is to advise you that we have had several enquiries and one
booking originating from our new webpage that is attached to your
Western Tourist Radio website.
The booking was for early this month and the guests who were from the
eastern states had printed our webpage.
We have also directed some phone enquiries to our webpage via your
website.
Considering that we have only had the webpage up and going for less than
two months I am quite pleased at the responses we are getting.
Kind regards Brian Byatt Proprietor

Thanks for the opportunity to recognise
your fine company and the work it is doing to develop and showcase tourism
within the local region. I promote the service of
"Tourist Radio" by having the program available to our guests
via channels on our television network system. The radio
station is played between scheduled in-house movies providing an effective
way to promote the attractions of Bunbury and the Tapestry
region. Congratulations on a superb

Hi Barry,
I just wanted to thank you for the CD but also to congratulate you on
the wonderful service in the Tourist Radio. It is always the station we
have on as we travel through a region, being not only informative but
also cleverly scripted and entertaining. It was during our recent visit
through Busselton and Dunsborough last week that I came upon the idea of
using the information in my listening classes. Going on the Net and
seeing how well laid out the website was (as well as being extremely
user-friendly), I realised that you can listen to the programs online as
well. What a great idea! It means that if you are planning a trip to a
new area, you can do some quick and easy research beforehand, finding
out what is on offer and what you would like to include. This could even
be done by travellers' en-route each night if they have access to the
Internet wherever they are staying. I think this is an invaluable aid in
trip planning and I just wish this type of service were available in all
of the Western Australian country towns (and even interstate).
Thankyou again for the time and effort that you have obviously put into
this project and good luck with the future.
Kind regards, Perri Pires

Margaret
River Resort Dear Barry, Thank you for your
enthusiasm in promoting the many attractions of our beautiful South
West. The Margaret River Resort will most
defiantly be a part of what I believe to be an essential marketing tool,
a tool which will not only be an asset to our company but will aid those
companies which provide products and services to the very guests who
keep our company in business. I congratulate the
concept and look forward to a beneficially rewarding future business
relationship with you and your company.

Cape
Naturalist Tourism Assn. Western Tourist Radio have
been a member of the CNTA since 2001. Under the management of Barry
& Dale Green, the tourist radio service has been significantly
upgraded in the last 2 years. The CNTA has assisted in this
upgrade through the provision of editorial content on the overall Margaret
River Wine Region, thereby ensuring that key non commercial activities and
attractions in the region are promoted alongside commercial
operators. The new program is a pleasure to listen to. Information
is up-to date, dynamic and includes interesting interviews with local
identities who have contributed to the tourism development of our
region. If it has been sometime since you listened to Western
Tourist Radio, we would recommend you make time to be familiar with this
new service to the tourism industry. The CNTA supports the endeavours
of Western Tourist Radio to provide an alternate means of promoting the
Margaret River Wine Region and its many natural attractions to visitors to
our region.

Tourism
South West I am pleased to forward this letter in support of
your submission for the (2002) Tourism Awards in the category
"Media". Since you took over Western Tourist Radio, you
have been constantly aware of your projects influence on the South West
Tourism Industry, and the need for continuity of the South West's
marketing message. Every step of the way you have asked
Tourism South West for suggestions and comments on your radio format,
content and how you can work with us. Because of this and your
contact with many other tourism associations you have designed a product
that works well with other South West tourism promotions, including
Australia's South West Holiday Planner, the South West promotion at local
and Eastern States Caravan and Camping Shows and more. Barry
your 'down to business' regional approach, support of local tourism
associations and sheer determination has seen what was once a failing
tourism product turn into an upcoming successful tourism media.

Margaret
River Visitor Centre
The Augusta Margaret River
Tourism Assn. Inc endorses the new concept for tourist radio adopted by
Western Tourist Radio. Their new programs tell the story of the Margaret
River Region including interviews with local characters and utilise local
musical talent. The programs also promote unique
local attractions,
products and services, and we believe that the service is an asset ti the
tourism industry and the area generally. Their new format does not include
advertising for accommodation, recognising that when visitors are within
range of their stations, they most probably already have accommodation
booked. Instead the programs advise listeners still looking for
accommodation to contact our Visitor Centres and where to find
us. The
Tourist Radio service is now promoted with roadside signage and at
information bays in the Margaret River Region. In addition some
accommodation providers in the South West are now making the radio program
available to visitors in their room via a television channel. The feedback
we have from visitors is that they appreciate the service and that it does
influence their decisions, especially in relation to attractions that are
further from the main centres.
Western Tourist Radio have been keen to work closely with the Augusta
Margaret River Tourism Association to ensure that their message is consistent
with the direction of this association, and we are happy to recommend
their service to our
members.
