Donnybrook is situated in the South West of Western Australia in a picturesque area surrounded by stunning old growth forests, winding rivers, rolling hills, vineyards and lush orchards.  Donnybrook is historically known and is still regarded as the first genuinely “rural” township of consequence that one enters when travelling south from Perth . Due to our healthy local economy, and the benefit of several diverse industries nearby, we promote a unique rural lifestyle rich in heritage and culture.  Local industries include Donnybrook sandstone quarrying, farming fruit, vegetables, viticulture, sheep and cattle.  

The Donnybrook Apple Festival is a biennial event, their website is well worth a visit and the Donnybrook Gourmet Wine and Food Fest is held in Feburary

Tourism is also rapidly becoming an important industry with local attractions, which include the scenic areas of the Blackwood River Valley , State Forests , Glen Mervyn Dam, and several established wineries, Donnybrook is central to the Geographe Wine Region.  Tourist accommodation ranges from high-class accommodation to bed and breakfast establishments.  Chalet developments are situated at various localities in the Shire. Call in at the Donnybrook Visitor Centre located in the old railway station building on the main street and collect a free brochure and map that details local scenic drives and attractions and wineries of the area.
